Hi, A service center just recommended an engine flush for my 2001 xj8 vanden plas. I wondered if this is a Jaguar recommended service? Thanks, Andrew

The engine flushes are a waste of money if the car is maintained with regular oil changes..... 3 to 5 thousand mile intervals,
the flush solvent is just the detergent used in the oils anyway,
may brake sludge loose and cause more problems ...safe bet change your oil regularly and stay away from engine flushes, like above , though replace coolant around 45, 000 mile s
I'm guessing they mean the cooling system. It is a good idea with any engine to have it flushed periodically. Permanent antifreeze is not permanent. It needs to be repaced regularly and it is a good idea to flush the system to clean out loose gunk when you do this. Unless Jaguar says NOT to do it, it should be done especially if it has never been done on your car. Hope this helps.
