My granddad lost the key to his 2001 Ford explorer. While trying to help him find a cheap solution, I found Rush Locks and Keys. I was able to order the key blank from them and then go to a Ford dealership to have it cut and programmed. The dealership was ******, but I saved over 60% of what they would have charged me cuz I bought the key from Rush. Worked for me--good luck man.
There no way runs through your computer, your truck is in theft mode, most lock smiths have the computer to program a chip to your pag system, you have a key already won't be that much to do.

I have a 2001 ford explorer. If i tape the chip key under the dash will the computer pick up the chip key if i try to start it with a regular key?

1998 Ford f150 had an attempted break in on the passenger side door. It does open and I can make the key turn, but it is very difficult to use. Since then, the alarm goes off every time the driver's side door is unlocked (with the key). We bought this used, and there is no remote key entry, just the regular key. Any thoughts?

There is a switch on the door latch that disarms the alarm, the hard key turn is most likely due to a defective power lock motor, they are a simple gear drive like a rack and pinion, and when they get older they start to loose the grease ... 1998 Ford F150 Regular Cab
