The abs light and traction control lights come on and the brakes grab suddenly with a grinding noise when pressure is applied to stop. the car has been in the shop 3 times; the left front hub has been replaced twice--the last time yesterday and we still have the same problem. My 2006 Chevy Equinox has problem with ABS and Traction control lights on, and as vehicle brakes to a stop, the ABS kicks in and the vehicle does not brake - sometimes scary as you nearly rear-end the person in front of you. The diagnostic tester indicates front left wheel bearing - always. But the gargae has replaced both front wheel bearings (with speed sensors) twice each. Also, the ABS control module was replaced, and the struts were replace, and we rotated the tires. All of this over ab

We recently replaced the front brake pads and turned the roters on our 2004 PT Cruiser. However, when applying the brakes on a hard quick stop, it makes a god-awful griding noise. Doesn't do it with a "soft" stop or soft braking, only on hard brakes. Was really bad after a hard rain and we had to make a quick stop. Also, we're hearing a slight high-pitched scraping noise when you start out from a dead stop. It goes away after you reach a higher speed.

Brake repair is pretty simple as long as you know what you are doing. That's the reason why mechanics who do know have a brake adjusters license as extra security for the consumer. If someone repaired your brake system and unlicensed would be unhelpf ... 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser

07 Escape vibration that goes away when turning wheel to the right. vibration starts between 20-30 mph and will only subside if the wheel is turned to the right or the car is stopped. new tires, thought that was the problem, was informed the ball joint and control arm bushings were bad, so replaced the control arms on both front. If the slightest right steering wheel pressure is applied,( not even enough to change a lane) it will stop. Any help appreciated, thanks

After you have changed the control arms on the front suspension did you send it for steering geometry ( tracking )? If not, then the problem you have is your front steering alignment is out and that's why. ... 2007 Ford Escape

I have a 1992 Lexus LS 400 with traction control and a mechanic said the traction control is causing the front brakes to grab at all times and turning the traction control off doesn't work, I also removed the fuse and that doesn't seem to work can I disconnect the module under the hood and how would I do that ?

My granddaughter's 1997 Pontiac Grand Am is having brake failure at low speeds. When rolling up to a stop sign or using the brakes to control speed through a parking lot, a rattling/knocking noise begins in the front of the car when the brakes are applied. When this happens it is very difficult to stop the car. My mechanic has checked, and made repairs to the brakes, but the problem persists. The ABS light comes on and off for long periods of time. Thank You for your help.

Sounds like a bad speed sensor in a wheel, or possibly a tire mismatch (different size tires on car front to back or one odd one) Abs can be turned off and will work in normal non-abs mode by pulling the appropriate fuse...This may help 'till you get ... 1994 Pontiac Grand Am

Traction control comes on dry roads. mainly when i turn left, but it will aslo happen when going straight. took my vehicle to the local gm dealer and they said that the left front brake sensor needed an update which was done with no luck. shortly after that i did have the left front brake sensor replaced which helped, would still come on, just not as frequently. since then it has started to get worse again. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 2000 4 cyl. automatic Camry with 52,000. Recently, the car has developed a rough idle and it stalls. This occurs when the engine is hot and I slow the car down at a stop light or it stall as I am making a turn from after having slowed the car at an intersection. After applying the brakes the car begins idle roughly and stalls then the brakes stop operating and the car still is moving forward. I brought it into a non-dealer mechanic and he cleaned the throttle control. Problem returned.

I'm hearing a squealing/whining sound from the drivers side front area, but very randomly. It seems to come and go on whim with no apparent outside influences such as speeding up, applying brakes, turning, or anything else. The only thing it does consistently is it stops making that noise when the vehicle slows to a near stop or is stopped. When it happens, it is always when the car is in motion. BUt again, it starts and stops at random times when in motion. I just noticed this about a week and

I have been driving as little as possible til I can get fixed but tonight my traction turned off as well as the abs indicater and a message saying service traction control, I had noticed prior to this that when braking my traction would make noise and sometimes kick in. I have a 2000 towncar wtih clinking noise under dash. Sounds like the blinker is on but it isn't. Apply the brake, stops the noise. Turning on a turn signal stops the random clicking. Occasionally after driving and stopping my right front brake caliper is slow to release,a few times it actually stayed applied and become extreamely hot. When this happen I opened the bleeder screw relieved the built up pressure and the caliper released the brake pads and the wheel was able to turn free. This is the only wheel that is sticking, and I thought if the caliper was sticking, opening the bleeder wouldn't have any effect, what say you?
