Distributor assembly/camshaft sensor for 2000 Grand Voyager

\015 A mechanic told my husband that the camshaft sensor in our 2000 Plymouth Grand Voyager needs to be replaced. He found one at a local dealer, but was told that the entire disrtibutor assembly would have to be changed at the same time an it would cost $1200.00. Is this the case or can we just replace the sensor?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 20-11-2017

Answers :

You can replace just the cam sensor, I've done it, but it's kind of a delicate job. You have take apart the distributor to do it, it's not hard to do, you just have to have a little mechanical aptitude. If he's intimidated by this type of thing, you can always get a used one. I think I could probably buy a whole van for $1200.
