Having problems with your 2000 Nissan Maxima ?

2000 nissan maxima On warm days I get a check engine light and the car smells like anti freeze . The temp gauge never shows it is hot. we have only had a few days above 65F so it has not been happening regulary but it may increase as the weather warms.. Any ideas?

Replace your overflow cap. The seal under the cap goes bad and can no longer hold under pressure and will seep out a little or a lot, it also won't always give a check engine light except if it gets below the refill sensor. This is the cheapest trick to go with and then if this isn't it, at least you haven't spent $200. Do you see fluid on the ground or does the overflow tank look chalky white?
