Truck turns over and starts when I connect battery???? No key is even in the ignition.

\015 2000 Ford Ranger with 4.0 replaced heads a week or so ago, put it all back together started right up test drove it did fine, next day when tightening battery cables the truck turned over! Full power everywhere! No key even in ignition, How? Why? Could it be a relay? Or short maybe? Unhooked starter etc still get full power to fan etc...\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 11-12-2017

Answers :

There are too many things going on here to be real. Antitheft would be missing key chip signal, starter position on ignition switch would be in crank position and then release starter to run position, relays would have to disengage or battery would run down, etc.
Possibly the wires were accidentally reversed to the main relay when it was repaired. This happened to my '93 Ranger-
