Changed the rear end of 1989 Suburban (4 wheel drive). Put on new brake lines for the rear brakes. The brake pedal is hard. There is no brake fluid going to the rear brakes and the front brakes seem to build up pressure - I assume that is what is causing the brake pedal to be hard. When open the front bleeders the pedal drops to the floor. There is a part on the frame of the truck where two brake line intake holes and two lines that go out. The one that goes out to the rear brakes does not

It has to be your proportioning valve, and it is probably jammed and blocking flow to the rear. You can either replace the valve or try to reset it. To reset, you need a way to put pressure into the rear brake exit port. If the valve has bleeder ... 1989 Chevrolet Suburban

I have a busted rear brake line on my 97 Malibu(V6). Stranded outside city limits. In order to ger into town I need to disconnect rear line at the master cyclinder. Is it the front line for the front brakes and the rear one for rear brakes or the other way around? Please help. I only have 1 small bottle of brake fliud and am just a few clicks from a service station.

Disconnecting the line won't stop the fluid from leaking out. Your best bet would be to use a pair of Vise-Grips and pinch the line off where it is broken. You'll probably have to pinch it a couple of times to get it to stop leaking or only seep a li ... 1997 Chevrolet Malibu

I replaced the rear brake lines on a Kia Sedona after they leaked. The rear lines were bled (twice), but the brake pedal is still soft. Do I need to bleed the Master cylinder to get a firmer brake pedal? Do you just pull the line off the master cylinder and bleed, then re-bleed the rears again? Could it be air in the front lines also?? Thanks in advance

I have a 64 Impala that I'm coverting to power disc brakes(frt), and I have a kit that has a proportioning valve that has 2 frt brake line ports and one rear line port. The orginal line system has one line that runs from the back to a tee then across the frt crossmember to the left side into another tee, with one line going to the single port master. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that I need to run a new line from the back of the master. across to tie into rear brakes.

You should have two lines coming from the master one to the front brakes and on to the rear, from the prop valve split to the fronts and one to the rear its pretty straightforward, good luck ... 1983 Chevrolet Impala

New brakes Installed new brakes front and rear including new wheel cylinders, shoes and flexible brake lines in rear at drums, new calipers and pads in front, new master cylinder. Cant get front drivers side caliper to compress and rear passenger side brake pads wont expand. Front caliper is full of fluid, when i crack bleeder open steady stream of fluid pours out, no air. Same with rear passenger side, wheel cylinder full of oil. Filled lines with new fluid using gravity feed method. Any ideas

No fluid to rear brakes on a 1992 Lincoln Continental.  Rear brakes stopped working. Pulled rear wheels and found surface rust on disks. Raised car, spun tire and push brake pedal found no friction scenerio at the wheel. Tried to bleed rear calipers, found dry brake lines, no fluid from bleeder valve at all. I checked master cylinder fluid level, found to be full. Guess I need to try to find a proportioning valve. Maybe I'll try to check the lines from the master cylinder. Any suggestions would

Check at the proportioning valve--some have a pin that sticks out from the side, when bleeding the brakes try to push that pin back in. But first check to see why this happened--fluid leak to rear wheels, brake hoses cracked and air getting into the ... 1992 Lincoln Continental
