Answers :

Take the hazard button and tug and wiggle it real hard when pushing the brake pedal, if they start flickering, you will need a turn signal switch replaced.

Brake lights will not illuminate when brake is pressed. However, the signals work along with evening lamps as well. They do illuminate with the light switch on, but wont get brighter when I hit the brake. I checked the wires from the fuse box through to the tail lights, nothing seems to be cut. Fuse is still good. I tested the fuse with a test light, and there is current. The brake switches spring in and out fine as the brake moves back and forth. They dont seem to get stuck. I replaced 2 of

My brake lights do not work. All fuses seem to be good, all bulbs appear to be good, and the brake light switch has been replaced and seems to be good. I do have other intermittent electrical problems - wipers, clock illumination, power windows, and sound system idiosyncrocies. I suspect a problem with the wiring harness somewhere between the brake light switch and the brake lights. Do you have any suggestions? Tony Prescott

Sounds like a grounding problem. You are having too many problems with unrelated electrical circuitry. Trace wiring harness and double check all wiring that should ground to metal framework. ... 1988 Mazda RX-7

Dodge 2001 2500 dsl, Brake lights quit working (worked one night, then didn't work the next morning). No blown fuses, no power at the stop light switch. I can hook a 12v wire on power side of wiring pigtail then jump to the next pin and brake lights will come on. Plug the harness into the (new) switch and still no brake lights with pedal depressed. I have a trailer brake set up, it has power I jump the pigtail the trailer brake seems to be working. (lights up). Any help

Look at you brake pedal switch. See if the pedal switch is sending signal. If so make sure ECU is recieving or whatever the pedal switch wire runs to. It sounds like a supply of a signal to brake ECU issue. ... 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Truck

I am troubleshooting brake light issues I am having. All three brake lights do not turn on when brakes are pressed. I have already changed the fuse and brake lights, still nothing. The reverse and signal lights work fine. Now, I am trying to locate the brake switch, but not real sure what I am looking for. I tried following the shaft of the brake pedal, and there doesn't seem to be a switch there? Where could it possibly be or even look like?

Brake lights on '99 Expedition sporadically light up. It seems that the cable that goes into the switch assembly for the brake light is a little too kinked so if I attempt to move the cable over and take some of the kink out of the cable the brake lights work for awhile, until the cable goes back to the old position. Also, are those assemblies easy to replace. It seems you need a childs fingers to replace it.

Brakes Locking My brake lights were not working. My husband checked the fuse and it was good. He then replaced the switch under the brake pedal. It seemed to work but not the brakes keep locking and the car is driving like the emergency brake is on. It seems to be ok when you first start driving and then happens in approx. 10 - 15 minutes. Could he have done something when he replaced the switch to make this happen?

Its possible he has the brake switch too tight or otherwise out of adjustment depending on the type of vehicle. If only one wheel is getting hot I would look at the brakes on that wheel. ... Cars & Trucks

I have a VW Passat TDI 130 BHP (2003) model - I have been getting the glow plugs warning light come up as well as the electronic stability light (ESP) warning light. 1984 ford f150 no brake lights. There is a vaccum switch that contacts the brake pedal. It works on positive pressure meaning when the brake pedal is NOT pressed down, the system is sealed. When the brake is pressed down, it creates an opening in the system. I have removed this from the system and it should be sucking air, but I still can't get the brake lights to work. It seems like this is a strange way to activate the brake lights. I wonder if this why the brake lights don't work. I have repl

My brake lights are not working. Bulbs look good, and it doesn't seem right that they would both fail. Fuse is good, and I checked voltage at the fuse box and get about 9.3 volts DC when I press down on the pedal. My hand brake sensor light is on in the instrument cluster so I'm wondering if that sensor or switch is bad, could that make my brake lights not work?

When the brake light is illuminated on the dash, it may not be because the hand brake is engaged. It can also mean that your breaking system is in distress. it is possible that you have a short somewhere between the fuse panel & light assembly or it ... 1996 Nissan Altima

Driver side brake light works intermittently, moving or not, in drive or in park, engine on or engine off, etc. Replaced bulbs. Sometimes, the brake pedal switch seems to make clicking sounds that go along with the brakes working or not, but that could be my imagination. The turn signal "clicker" goes real fast and then slows down to normal, but the dash indicator blinks at a constant steady rhythm. Could thee be related andd how can I fix the brake light? Thanks

I have a 98 Honda Accord that does not have any brake lights working. The light bulbs are OK, the fuse is OK, the brake light switch seems to be fine (I remove it and check continuity with an ohm meter). Is there anything else that I should look for, relay??? how and where? Thanks Andrew N

Tail lights and dash lights are not commin on. back up lights brake lights and turn signals all still work.
