Having problems with your 1999 Dodge Ram ?

Front passenger side carpet getting wet

\015 Every time it rains, and also sometimes after the AC has been on for a long time, the front passenger side floor and carpet get wet. It is water that is leaking in from somewhere but I can't find the leak. When it rains hard, i even have a large puddle of water sitting on top of the carpet!!!\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 11-12-2017

The AC evaporator units have a drain hose that runs through the floor because condensed moisture is a fact of life with AC units. Yours is plugged. You will have to get under the vehicle and look for the hose where it comes out, then take like coat hanger wire and clean it out, It is somewhere in the vicinity of where the passenger foot well meets the fire wall. If you have to raise the vehicle to get under it, make certain you have it safely supported. If you don't have the stuff, drive the passenger side wheels up on a good curb and use some cardboard to slide under.
I have been told that chrysler is aware of this problem and has issued a directive advising the installation of a short hose with a 90 degree bend on the drain pipe located inside the engine compartment on the firewall. This pipe keeps the condensation from flowing back under the drain pipe back into the vehicles interior. Someone else told me something about an o-ring that goes there.
