Having problems with your 1999 Chevrolet K1500 ?

Battery is not staying charged. It is an old battery. jump starts quick. when vent blower is on battery does drop in voltage to 12 instead of 14 when at an idle speed. Is this a dead battery or a faulty alternator ?

Answers :

Drive to autozone or like parts supplier...they will test battery and alternator output for free...do not disconnect alternator while enging running....this is an old trick for early cars with generators...it can actually damage your alternator.....
