I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that the top hose that leads from the radiator to the thermostat blew the other day. I replaced the hose with no problems but the gauge in the jeep keeps indicating overheating and the code reader has a code that has the temp sensor error. This sensor which I found on the top of the thermostat top was wet inside from the coolant. Could this have shorted the sensor and does the thermostat need replacing as well?

Thermostats become unreliable and really should be replaced any time the engine overheats for any reason. After replacing it, fill the system using plain water (just in case it overheats again) and run it and check for problems If the sensor had cool ... 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Loredo, straight six, is having a problem that the oil pressure gauge goes to 0 and my check gauges light comes on but when i accelerate it goes back up and the light goes off. Is this a sensor issue? Nothing seems to be wrong w/ the jeep

Your problem could be the result of a bad pressure sending unit but I would take care of that immediately. If the pressure doesn't return to normal after installing the new unit, do not drive 'til you have a mechanical gauge installed and the actual ... 2001 Jeep Cherokee

My indicator stated that I had a "bad coolant sensor." The warning would come on then go off every other day. Well this afternoon, after driving around all day, my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee started to overheat. The overfill was boiling, but my temperature gauge said the temp was normal. The overfill was leaking fluid from filling up so much.

What repair did you make when the "bad coolant sensor" light came on? If you did nothing, I'm sure you know that not only does the sensor give you temperature info, it also tells the computer when the engine is warmed up so it can properly manage f ... 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Hello, I have a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee V6. I had the pcm replaced Aug 2010. I recently had an oil sensor problem and when I picked it up from the shop and drove away the check gauges light came on and my battery gauge jumped clear over 19v. Slowly the Jeep started tugging and chugging and losing power to where it eventually died. I had the gas pedal slammed to the floor and it wouldn't go over 3 or 4 mph. After I let it sit for awhile, it started again and I made it about 8 blocks before

We had to back out the 2 screws in back of the pcm because they were shorting out the pcm, zip tie the connectors in with 24" zip ties. ... Jeep Grand Cherokee

It sounds like a fualty sensor like camshaft sensor or bad 02 but the check engine light should be on if the problem is sensor or electrical related. I would change temp sensor and thermostat. Sounds more like faulty temp sensor if the car is running ... 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I've had my 2005 Grand Cherokee into the dealer 5 times for the same issue and they've replaced a bunch of stuff, but have not found the problem yet. A quick fix, I've found, is to jiggle the key in the ignition. Doesn't fix the problem, but it doe ... 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I cant explain the windows but the stalling can be the wiring harness at the under the hood . you did not mention engine size but i know on in line 6 the harness goes around the rear of valve cover if you move it around it will stall if bad. ... 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V6 4.0 that keeps overheating. It just started with my new job that I use my Jeep. I do a lot of short driving and shutting off and restarting in a short about of time. I have replaced the thermostat, cap, and temp sensor. The fan comes on but not after I stop and start the Jeep. To me, when the fan comes on it seems to be rotating kind of slow. Its very quite and I can almost see each blade turning. The water pump is not leaking, the hoses are not sucking

I have a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee with 5.9 and my problem with the electric fan is not the cooling of the motor. It's the a/c sensor(?) I guess because the A/c works fine driving down the road with air going through condensor, but when I stop so does the a/c. Unless the temp of the engine kicks the fan on,then the a/c will work. Does anyone know what sensor and where it would be.If that is even my problem. Thanks,TIm

Check if the fan relay is supplied when you push on the A/C button, cold engine idling. Remove and replace if necessary the fan relay (2x8mm) from the passenger side underneath the header panel. I recommend this as this relay will probably go bad. Se ... Jeep Grand Cherokee

It sounds like you have already located the problem, now you need to do something about it. Likely, by being partially unplugged, moisture and other bad stuff has gotten into the ecm connector. You need to carefully inspect all prongs and prong recei ... 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee
