Having problems with your 1998 GMC Sierra ?

I am changing the ignition switch in my 1998 Sierra but I am stuck because i can't seem to get the peice were the key slides into off so that I can remove the tope vinyl cover on the steering column. Any ideas?

Still trying to fix the hood latch on a 2000 Mercury Cougar. When the handle inside the car is pulled there is almost no tension, but I can see the pin inside the locking mechanism slide back. I can't see where it should connect and I can't see how to remove the grill without breaking it. Thats going to be tough. You should be able to fashion a coat hanger wire to get in there and pop the latch loose. if you can find where the end of the cable goes, thats where you need to get a hook around it, sometimes the cable can either break or ... 2000 Mercury Cougar

New blend door actuator doesnt operate. i get ac by removing actuator and sliding door to cold side, but can't use climate control. i just want to use the actuator I paid $50 for! Any ideas? I have 5 volts on one pin on actuator.
