Having problems with your 1998 Ford F150 Regular Cab ?

Drivers side window does not work. I replace the switch, and noticed that the relay #4 clicks when I operate the switch. Does that mean the relay is bad or is the relay working and now I should start testing to see if the motor works?

Answers :

It is somewhat common for the motor to get dust built up on the motor brushes, and only work in 1 direction. The clicking could be from the OTD ( one Touch Down ) relay.

Remove the door panel, and check the pigtail connector to the motor with a meter, to see if power is there in both directions ( 1 way will be +VDC, the other direction polarity will be reversed ).

If you need directions on removing the door panel, good directions with pictures on removing the door panel from Muth Signal mirrors

Search on the page for the MY range and type under the Ford section.

If you find the pigtail connector has VDC in both directions, it is time to try thumping the motor against a tire or just repalcing it if you do not want to go into the door maybe a 2nd time.
