Having problems with your 1997 Volkswagen Golf ?

Starting my car when it rains...doesn't happen, why?

\015 Hi, Everytime it rains out I have to fear that my car won't start and I'll be cab'in it work. Why does this happen? My engine is not exposed at all and it only happens when it rains. When I go out the following day it starts right up. Cheers, Chris\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 23-10-2017

I did have problems with my car not starting in the rain. after changing the distributor cap and HT leads it still. My last thing to try before taking it in was to change the ignition coil. I ordered a new and installed it and it started right up! it has rain a couple times since then and it's still starting! so i'm hoping it keeps working. hope this helps anyone.
Same problem. I think water is getting in through the air intake. Have yet to adjust where the air intake is, but I think adjusting the air intakes position will fix the problem.
