Having problems with your 1997 Saturn SL ?

Engine in car will not turn over but car never runs hot

\015 I have changed the sensor on the top of the manifold and the one in the radiator, I have even replaced the battery. The car never runs hot but if you drive 65mph on freeway or make 3 stops turning off the engine each time at the 3rd stop car will not turn over until you raise the hood and let it cool off for about 15 min/and 45 min if you don't raise the hood. The temperature gauge never goes above a half.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 16-10-2017

Answers :

If this car has a distributor, maybe check inside of it. If you can see a round plastic disc in there with a metal tab attached to it, this might be the problem. It's a pick-up coil. When these go bad, the heat from the engine makes them shrink and the tab cannot conduct electricity that is sent to your plugs. Mine was $40 on my truck. Hope this helps.
