I have replaced the thermostat, and the car continues to do the same thing, still when turning on the heater in the car, the heater still blows cold air. It has reached the 260 degree mark and the warning light has come on. What is it that I need to replace, to get this to stop? How can you tell if the water pump is bad, or the heater

I have a 1998 Dodge Dakota 5.2/ V8 4X4 and was told the Firestone service Rep that my water pump and thermastat were defective. I could smell coolant both outside and inside the truck. Also when the heater and defoster are turned on it blows only cold air. I replaced the Thermastat, Water pump, Radiator, upper and lower water hoses. I've got a 96 Buick Regal Custom 3.8L V6. It's been running hot for a while. Yesterday the heater worked fine then last night it started blowing cold. I knew I had a cracked radiator, so I replaced the radiator, cap, thermostat (and seal), the temp sensor and flushed the lines. It's still running hot and the heater is still blowing cold and now the temp light and low coolant light come on too. There's no leakage inside the car or at the water pump or heater core. What could it be?

The one thing that comes too mind is trapped air-when i do a radiator I always start up and warm engine so thermostat cycles a few times to make sure that you dont trap air in colling system. you did not say so but if you didnt, its really not a bad ... 1996 Buick Regal Olympic Gold

We live in a cold climate. Our 1998 GMC Jimmy Heater will not provide cabin heat. The engine warms normally. We replaced the thermostat just to make sure the coolant was warm enough. The blower operates but blows cold air. The heater hose going to the heater core is warm but the return hose is cold. We wonder if the water pump may be defective.

Friends car(2001 pontiac grand prix) 3.8 v6.started running hot,so he replaced thermostat. didn't help. so replaced water pump. helped very little. heater hoses cold to touch and blows cold inside. worked fine before? heard something about air pockets. any truth to this?

Yes, but it's designed to drive the air out as long as you open the cap and run it until it's hot, keeping the radiator full. Eventually the air will come out and heater hoses should get coolant. ... 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix

Not getting coolant into heater core. constantly blows cold air. Water pump has been replaced. Wondering if heater control switch inside car is possibly related to why absolutely no coolant gets to heater core.

There is no heater control valve in the beelte, so the controls do not affect coolant flow to the heater. Are you saying the heater hoses do not get hot? My guess is that your blend door cable has come loose or slipped adjustment. Look under the d ... 2004 Volkswagen Beetle

I have a 1991 Ford F150 XLT 2 wheel drive with automatic transmission. I have replaced the water pump and just recently the thermostat. Since replacing the thermostat it seemed like the heat was inconsistent from one use to the next. One time plenty hot and the next time barely warm. Now it is only blowing cold air. The termperature guage on the truck shows the engine running at the right temperature. Before I replace the heater core, I was wondering if there is anything else I should try.

I have a 2005 Monte Carlo. It started overheating so I put it in shop and they replaced the intake manifold gasket, water pump, radiator, thermostat, and radiator cap. The guy at the shop told me to watch it for a couple of days when I picked it up. I got less than a mile down the road and it overheated again. I brought it home and we bled it ourselves. The heater blows cold when it first starts after bleeding it for 20 minutes or so it blows hot but when you turn off the car and restart it

It might be a silly question but have you checked the radiators and the water channels in the block? They might be clogged with dirt and lime so the coolant won't pass thru them. ... Chevrolet Monte Carlo
