Having problems with your 1997 Chevrolet Blazer ?

97 transmission pump

\015 While installing a used transmission, the torque converter did not go in place correctly therefore damaging the pump ( broke off the 2 small ears we believe goes to the pump). Once the transmission was in place the truck was started but won't shift. Once we took the transmission back out we noticed the ears were broke off the pump. We are looking to find out how to change the pump. We are hoping the pump off the 1st transmission that we took out will work on this one. We are not sure how to go about changing it. Looking for a manual or information on how to do this.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 14-08-2017

Answers :

Just remove the front pump bolts, you will need new O ring seals, DON'T USE THE OLD ONES OVER, the pump will be hard to remove, but it will come out, have the trans pointed up or all the fluid will gush out on the floor, when you install the new O rings use good old Vasoline petroleum jelly ( heap generic works fine also) to lube the O rings, be very careful putting the pump back in or you will tear the new O ring seal and all you did will be for nothing, really lay the Vasoline on there, the more the merrier!
