Replacing the thermostat how to replace it

\015 Car running hot upper hose has a lot of pressure on it\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 23-10-2017

Answers :

You should have your coolant system flushed. not just the radiator. engine and heater core also. if the top hose is pressurized the thermostat is open. and coolant should be flowing. when operating normally the system is typically pressurized to 15 psi. there may be something clogged. like the radiator. what is the condition of the coolant? when was the last time you changed it? when was the last time you had it flushed?

\015\012to change the thermostat, remove the thermostat housing. it's on the top hose at the engine. remove the old thermostat and note it's position. replace with new thermostat and replace housing. tighten housing bolts, but don't over tighten.
The thermostate should be located where the upper rad hose goes into the nigine, u will have to drian the rad fluid a little but not the whole system
