Starter how do you take the starter off , i have a book but it said 2 bolts on the back side and i looked and it looks like a all thread bolt no head nor a nut on it , i think my siloniod is bad it clicks but won't turn the starter at all , can i take the siloniod off with out taking the starter off ? I have a 1985 Camaro Berlinetta with a unknown 305 in it. The noise on the starter broke in half I took it out it's for a 1980 Impala. I tried a 1985 Camaro starter no luck. I have a 1996 Olds Aurora...it turns over, but takes longer then normal to start. It's like it doesn't catch right away. If it was the starter or starter relay connecters then it wouldn't turn over at all. It turns over and eventually starts, but takes a while to catch. Any ideas?

My 1990 Camaro RS starter prblem. I saw the starter drive gear is using less or half of the gear on the fly weel like the starter needs a longer noise and the flyweel has marks from were the starter is striking it. The new starter drive gear is wearing on the tip. The engine is suppose to be from a 1989 Chevy Blazer rebuilt from Ac Delco, but a Blazer starter will no work. The only numbers on this engine is 638 on the driver side of the block. I searched and found that engine is a Chevy 350 87-9

2006 Chevy Cobalt starter problems. The starter started making loud clicking sounds. I got under the car and had someone turn the key and it looks like a little amount of smoke would come off of the small starter wire when attempting to start. I can not get the starter to engage unless I probe on side of the starter enable relay with a test light while turning the ignition key. I have a new problem. Every morning it is taking more and more turns-over with the key for the starter to catch. It always has so far.. but it is getting colder and more difficult. On a cold mornings you turn the key and the lights seem to dim a little inside which seem there is power to the starter coil but will not engage the starter. I had a wire fire i thought under the heat sheild for the starter, it sizzled about 1 and 1/2 minutes until all power was lost. the starter checks out ok i had it tested the cooling fan was a little gritty but turned ok no wires were burnt that i could see when the starter came out. after replacing the starter and fan, take for a test drive. no power steering and the battery light is on. what to do? corey
