Having problems with your 1996 Chevrolet Blazer ?

I have a 1997 chevrolet Z71 with a 350 vortec engine which has 207,000 miles on it. I've been having problems with my engine. First of all I had a new "black box" transmission installed last year because it was "slipping" bad. Anyways, when I crank it up, it idles fine and when I press the gas, it revs up fine. When I put in in gear, It's like your riding the clutch on a standard shift truck. I have to press it half way to the floor for it to take off. Also, when I get going down the road and I

Sounds like the transmission repair man is trying to get rid of you until the warranty is up...its close isnt it ? ...he would have not said it was your engine and definatly knows that your engine wouldnt make your transmission slip...i would take it somewhere else and have it diagnosed before the warranty goes out and bring the results to the man that lied about your engine being the problem.he is definatly trying to stick it to you...get this documented by a pro and bring it back for repair and demand that he sticks to his warranty or if you go too many miles like he hopes you do then it will be too late...i would also let him know that he tried to stick it to you if it ends up being the transmission...but from what you are saying it is....Could be low fluid, or could be the filter and low fluid.,or could be converter...or a combo of the above including also sencors? A transmission has about 2000 parts and from experience would NEVER have one rebuilt...i havent seen one that has ever held up in the long run....You would come out better in my opinion getting one with low miles out of a salvage yard, because they will be factory built transmissions and not rebuilt by a mechanic...there are some very good mechanics , but no one can build a transmission like the factory.and one out of a salvaged vehicle has always been a very good choice and is even 2 times as cheap...especially if you can install it yourself...
To me it sounds like the trannie fluid is low or needing changed. But if the compression is off its off i wouldn't think it would effect the uptake of the transmission though.\015\012
\015\012is he under warranty still? its definately a transmission problem i would say. low fluid or old fluid i would check/replace fluid first to rule it out if it still does it you will need to open it up and check the convertor etc. Did he replace this when he changed the transmission?
