Transmission problem I have a 1996 Jeep grand cherokee with a three speed automatic. I was driving down the road, and the transmission was doing fine and then all of a sudden it felt like it was in neutral.I can start it,when the engine is cold and sometimes it will go in gear, and I can drive a few feet and then it wont go any further. If you could tell me what the problem could possibly be I would Greatly appreciate it. Jesse

First of all you need to check if there is any oil in the transmission, this can be done by allowing the engine to get to operating temperture ( ideally you want the transmission hot but as it doesnt drive this will might not be possible) then check ... 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I am having automatic transmission shift related issues with my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. It does not show up on the diagnostic test and there are no indications of slipping. When first starting out, it would shift two times without a problem then would take a very long time to shift into the other gears. This is very annoying especially when entering an expressway, althouth the vehicle is able to maintain high speeds, it does so at high RPMs before it finally shifts into higher gears (whic

I have a 94 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0 inline six cylinder, automatic transmission. After about 2 miles the engine shuts off and I notice smoke from the engine compartment and also smoke from the oil diptick. I can't tell if this is a temperature issue since the "temperature gauge" seems to be broken. Does this means the Ait Intake Temperature Sensor is malfuntioning and replacing is needed? Will this fix the gauge problem? Anyone can help me on this. Thanks in advanced. Nixon

Replaced transmission completely - problem still occurs after 45 minutes of drive time, park and reverse ? Hello, my 95 Jeep Grand Cherokee has 190,000 miles with 155K on the transmission (was replaced at 35k by dealer due to an issue). My question is: I'm having some slipping or gears when coming to a stop and/or shifting from reverse to drive. Its not very bad, however, I have a friend who thought his Jeep trany was a gonner, put some transmission additive in and the problem virtually disappeared! I bought this product called SLICK 50 for auto transmission high mileage vehicles. Is this a good prod

Slick 50 is good but I would change the fluid and filter to start with. While the oil pan is off, see if there is any metal in the pan, indicating an internal problem. If not put it back together and see where you are at. Additives are useful but ... 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Sometimes the jeep grand cherokee 2005 limited does not start immediately - turn over the key and nothing - had the jeep in and they ran a diagnostic and could find no problems with the battery, alternator spark plugs - also sometimes the automatic door lock will not open the doors (have replaced the battery in the key fob) and the panic horn sounds when door is opened and will not run off until the car is started - wondering if there is some type of electrical problem that is causing the car to

I have replaced the Transmission in my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and just fixed the belnd doors for the heat. Also, I have put 700 dolalrs worth of tires on my jeep 3 months ago. I have put over 3k in my jeep and now the engine just died. I don't know if I can find a cheap motor that is refurbished or reconditioned for 1500 or less or if I should just try and sell the jeep without a motor and get a different car. Problem is I've only got 2k to work with and I love my jeep :(
