To check timing position I suggest doing a compression check to see if there is compression 100 psi or better evenly across all cyl. if you do not then I suggest replacing timing chain and valves. if the timing did jump then it did bend valves. sometimes it will even crack the head. so I suggest a complete head check if that is the case. also do not reuse old head bolts. not a cheap issue to fix but if the car is in decent condition, its worth it.
