Depending upon how severe the overheat was, you have several possible failures: 1. Coolant leaking from hose sprayed on essential wiring components which may have had marginal but not yet critical problems to begin with ie: a battery connection (at either end of the cable) that was corroded or not really tight & clean). Adding wet antifreeze at that point would cause a break in the connection. Coolant spraying on the ignition coil can cause "tracking" from the high tension post to ground, causing no-spark condition (coolant inside distributor cap will essentially do the same thing, same goes for ignition wires) Bottom line: check and clean all electrical connections where antifreeze may have gotten to. 2. Antifreeze can cause alternator problems. Usually causing diodes to fail... generally, this will not cause an immediate problem though.(but, ecm does get info from alternator so those connections should be checked as well. 3. Overheat, if severe, can cause cylinder head gasket to fail, sometimes resulting in coolant filling one or more cylinders. "hydrolock" can prevent the engine from turning., Or, engine may have just plain "seized up" as a result of severe overheat. in which case, it's junk! I'd start by checking electrical stuff: did you have the flashers on while fixing problem? You may have just simply run the battery down!!!
Well when the motor gets too hot it warps the heads and messes up the motor. it could be possible that it vapor locked. if you have a big enough breaker bar put it on one of the nuts to the crank and try to turn the motor. if it doesnt turn then you will need a new motor.
