How do I replace the upper Control arms on My 1979 chevy 1/2 ton pickup. I saw a replacement control arm that has the bushings and ball joints already installed. I'm trying to save the high labor cost that this involves. I can replace the ball joints myself but I know that you need special tools to replace the bushings. Would I still need to try to get this tool since the new upper control arms have them installed already?

Since the new arm comes with the bushings, there is no reason to get the tool to install them. Upper arms are relatively easy to install...just a bolt out, bolt in operation as the springs aren't involved. Support the suspension under the lower contr ... 1978 Chevrolet C1500

I have a 2000 Jeep grand Cherokee. Can the bearing and crank shaft be replaced without having to replace the entire motor? They are telling me I need a new motor, but when I told them i couldnt come up with the money, they suggested that maybe I just need to replace bearings and crank shaft. But.....before they were telling me I had some "metal shavings" in my motor now. There were some very tiny groves in the crank shaft. And the bearings were looked like they had burnt motor oil on them.

Yes the crankshaft and the main bearings can be replaced w/out changing out the motor. You can probably get a motor out of a wrecked Jeep and have it installed for under 1,000.00 and have it done quicker than replacing the crankshaft, and main bearin ... 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Can you replace just the bushings in an '03 Kia Spectra or do you have to replace the entire lower control arm? Mechanics are telling me you have to replace the entire control arm even if its just the bushings that are bad, but I found bushings available online for much cheaper than it would cost to replace the entire control arm.

Ok but factor in the labor cost ($$$ per hour) of pressing out the old bushings and installing the news to just replacing the whole assembly. In the end it is your choice. ... 2003 Kia Spectra

I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo that the top hose that leads from the radiator to the thermostat blew the other day. I replaced the hose with no problems but the gauge in the jeep keeps indicating overheating and the code reader has a code that has the temp sensor error. This sensor which I found on the top of the thermostat top was wet inside from the coolant. Could this have shorted the sensor and does the thermostat need replacing as well?

Thermostats become unreliable and really should be replaced any time the engine overheats for any reason. After replacing it, fill the system using plain water (just in case it overheats again) and run it and check for problems If the sensor had cool ... 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee

As a result, I am very surprised that they already need to be replaced, but mostly concerned the cost of the parts. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I would be also. Without being there to see them myself, I can't diagnose the problem. But you can check them yourself if your up to it. You have to raise the front of the car to get the wheels off the ground. you can do one at a tie if you want. you ... 2002 Volvo S60
