Having problems with your 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee ?

My jeep has the straight 6 and 260,000 miles. The oil pressure appears very low while at idle. However when I accelerate, it comes up. It is running fine, but I know oil pressure issues can be a potential problem. Where should I start?

Answers :

It's common for high milage (over 150,000) engines to have a low oil pressure at idle. You could change the oil pump and it should improve.
Check for signs of leaks around the sump, head gasket etc.
Well this is pretty normal for the mileage you have i suggest you switch to a heavier weight oil or what i do is add a quart of lucas oil treatment with each oil change that stuff is amazing i have seen it stop oil leaks and stop smoke from the tail pipe and it will raise your oil pressure 10 to 15 psi.
