Burred head bolt

\015 Hi at FixYaOn removing head bolts on ford six cylinder engine socket cracked and badly burred the head of one of the bolts. Not sure what to do now.Have a couple of ideas but don't want things to go from bad to worse.Option one: file the down head of the bolt and try and fit next size smaller socket. If not perfect will probably end up with the same problem again.Option two: grind off the the head of the bolt, remove cylinder head and then see what I can do with the bolt extension.Option three: over to you guys...any ideas?regardsgeoff.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 15-01-2018

How many bolts hold Mitsubishi 2.0 head on?The reason I ask is because there are 3 bolts in the middle of the head that are a different size than the other 12 bolts?Do these bolts need to come off to remove the head?Or is the head held down by the 12 bolts only? The repair book I have doesn't say anything about the 3 bolts in the middle.

1994 4runner, six cyl. putting rebuilt heads on, toyota head gaskets, new head bolts "tvs 10.9". Torqued bolts in pattern to 33 foot pounds. another 1/4 turn in the pattern. and into my next and final 1/4 turn (required by toyota book), 3 different bolts acted like they stripped. They still have torque to them(more than 33 foot pounds I checked) but it seems that they "gave way" going into the final turn. I can't imagine the bolts stripping, but they aren't from toyota. I did oil the bolts prior

Got a 99 b2500 pick up bought requiring head gasket and radiator, hired a mechanic yesterday to do the job .He cannot get the head off and thinks that it has been run so hot at some stage that gasket has melted and welded head and block together. We are fitting a reconditioned cyl. head to Toyota 2C T diesel turbo engine .On the new head gasket kit they say we should replace head bolts . The old ones are in perfect condition and came out easily with no binding , when old head was removed. In your experence with these engines ,can we get away with using the old head bolts ? We live on an isolated Island in the South Pacific and it is difficult to get engine parts like this from the local Toyota dealer.

When I bought the car, the previous owners put a head gasket. He didn't tell me that he broke two bolts (sp? I'm a woman) in each end. When we drove the car, it began leaking from the two corners where the bolts were broken. That's what overheated the car. My son didn't put any water and it overheated the car. We had it repaired and the mechanic put a new head gasket and put two bolts in each corner and had it fixed. He put it altogether. The repairman also changed the oil, put some new oil, and

I just bought a used 1991 Pontiac Grand Am which has a 4 Tech 2.5 liter engine. I took the car to a shop to have the oil changed and was told that there is a "cylinder" or "canister" that holds the oil filter in place. This canister is held on by a bolt with a hex head. On my particular car the bolt's hex head has been rounded so that the mechanic cannot get a grip on the bolt to remove it. He further stated that whomever tried to use enough force to remove the cylinder would break it and th
