Having problems with your 1992 Chrysler Imperial ?

My head light switch caught fire and i now have to stick the three wires to get them to come on and they get real hot after about 5 mins and i cant go far because i dont want to burn the wires out how can i fix this i have no money to take it to a shop to have it repaired thanks

Make sure you disconnect the battery, before you start this project. There's power at the headlight switch all the while that the battery is connected.
\015\012It gets hot because it's overloaded (a short somewhere) or there is a poor connection. I would suggest going to www.car-parts.com and see if any local salvage yards have a good switch. You should get the plug, that goes on the switch too, with as much wire as you can get from the junk car and splice it into your wire harness. Solder and tape the connections between the new and old wires if possible, otherwise you can buy crimp style "**** Connectors" from an auto parts store. You will have to but the crimp tool to use the **** connetors, make sure you use the right size connector for the wire. Yellow is for 10-12 gauge wire, Blue is for 14-16 gauge wire, and Red is for 18-20 gauge wire. You will have to get some of each color because of all the differant size wires.
