Noisy rear bearing?

\015 I have a rear wheel drive previa and notice a noise from the rear of the van. It sounds like a noisy bearing .Could it be a bad rear end .The noise is pronounced at low speed but I can hear it on the highway. Could it be a noisy wheel bearing, or bad rear end. What would be a fair cost for these repaind ? would I have to take it to a toyota dealer or find a shop that works on rear ends?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 15-01-2018

Answers :

Is isnt the rear end it would be very bad shaking and wouldnt last long because it would throw a bearing out. So its most likly the wheel bearing and you can just take it to a local automotive shop.

Roaring Noise I believe the car has 2 noises taking place but it might be only 1. As the car nears 60mph, the 1 roaring noise resonates thru the whole vehicle as heard from the drivers seat. As you exceed 60mph it seems to become a little less noisy. 2nd noise seems to be in the right rear when sitting in the rear. Replaced left rear bearing assembly not long ago because I thought the left was roaring as the car did a left curve and the weight placed pressure on the bearing toward the outside. T

The rear of my Mazda 3 was making noise, so I narrowed the problem to the rear wheel bearings. After removing my Mazda's rear bearing hub assembly, I tried to carefully remove the plastic cover to expose the bearings. In the end the cover broke apart instead of pulling out. I went ahead and added more grease to the bearings, which fixed the noise, but for now I have used silicone to keep the cover in place. I have looked all over the internet and haven't been able to find a replacement to the c

I purchased my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee new, at 30182 milese I had to replace rear pinion seal, at 38601 miles I had to replace the left rear axle seal and the right rear bearing, at 79413 I had to replace the both rear axles and bearings. Is this normal?

I wouldn't call that "normal" but, not completely unusual either. Many units will run for 300k miles without ever needing service past routine lube changes. Others will have chronic problems. It follows no real pattern. Many times it can be trac ... 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee

1996 jeep grand cherokee, quadra trac,, rear end making alot of noise simular to a bad tore bearing, could the rear end need replaced? thanx hohn the rear end makes a grinding sound as you drive down the road.you apply the brakes and it makes no difference in the sound. so it is not the brakes. i had a local guy work on it he replaced the axels in the rear end and the bearings, almost $400.00 in labor and the thing still makes the noise.

Since you aready paid $400, go back to ;the shop and get your $'S worth!! Unless someone can prove that the axle bgs were bad, you shoulld ask why pinion & side gears were not diagonsed!!! (dosen't anyone test drive stuff after they "fix" someth ... 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The rear tires on my mother's 98 Rav4 showed uneven wear, and the tires were new and balanced. The uneven wear showed up 3 months after the tires were installed. I have a 2006 S40 Volvo that has just clicked over on 100,000 miles. It had never been to anyone other than the dealer for service but since it was out of warranty I took it to a local business that I am familiar with. They replaced a front wheel bearing but that didn't fix the problem and now they think it may be the rear wheel bearing on that same side but they have informed me that they can't get a rear wheel bearing because it is a dealer item? The noise is loudest at about 40-50 mph.
