Having problems with your 1991 Honda Civic ?

Car cuts out during driving at highway speeds.

\015 I have a 1991 Honda Civic Si hatchback. While driving after roughly 20 minutes the engine will try to cut off. It will stutter numerous times then come back fine. A few minutes later it will do the same thing. It feels like the ignition system is totally dying on me. Since I leave the car in gear it continues to coast and the engine is turning and I assume that's why the engine will come back. After that if I drive in the city it constantly tries to die. If it does die it will not restart. I will turn the key, all dash lights, indicators, and beeps come on but when I turn the key to start I get nothing. It does not even attempt to turn over. When the car does run the engine runs great. I have been having this problem for a long time now and it had me extremely frustrated. I love my car and don't want to get rid of it.\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 16-01-2017

That is very good, the cars momentum will in fact restart the car.
\012with a M/T tranny, with A/T it slips. so is car a M/T , stick?
\012do post tranny type, we cant guess that....???
\012misfires and stalls. the engine stalls, the ECU tries very hard to
\012prevent stalls, but failed to do so...
\012you are loosing electric power, 12vdc , and this kills EFI
\012is the CEL lamp not coming on at 0rpm when the engine does stall>?
\012if not you lost 12v. hard fact.
\012this is not hard to find or fix ,if lost 12v.
\012when you lose 12v the dash goes dead, warning lamps fail.
\012and in such a stated, the key crank will be dead.
\012after all there is no 12v to do the cranking, from key.
\012its an old car and all cars fail there is no car that does not.
\012all machines do. even space shuttles. fail 1:50 times.
\012if you have a voltmeter, connect it to the CIG lighter port.
\012and see if the 13.3 to 15vdc running drops to zero or below 10v.
\012if yes, BINGO.
\012the CIG steals power from the ignition power feed.
\012when any key start fails to crank here are some tricks.
\012in view of your post , you have 2 non related problems
\012or the battery cables are corroded. ever clean them>
\012one other trick is have head lights on, at the stall
\012are the headlamps FULL bightness at the stall>?????? very easy test.
