"Engine Failsafe Mode" message appeared after down-shifting to D2 when going down a steep hill. Speedometer showed high speeds but only going slow. Pulled over, shut off the engine. 1996 Buick Century- When accelerating from stop, engine revs but car won't move in Drive. Once up to 30mph in another gear (2nd, etc) will move in Drive. Problem started with stall-like shaking during accelerating from stop. Also, loud revving noise from 45mph to levelling off at 60mph. Hi, I have a 94 Pajero Nj 2.8TD with a 4M40 engine, and when the engine is revving over 2000, be it in gear or out of gear, there is a tap tap scraping noise which increases in speed with the engine. I have taken it to the mechanics and they have told me it is normal diesel noise. I really don't agree, any ideas? The noise is also slightly worse when the engine is cold, but is still present when hot. Any help muchly appreciated!

I cannot shift my 98 Sable out of park into a gear after it starts, if I turn the engine off then turn the key to on (not engaging the starter) the gear shift can be moved to neutral then the engine starts and I can shift to any gear.
