Having problems with your 1989 Toyota Pickup SR5 ?

Gauge fuse OK / Fuel gauge not working/ Drop tank and check yellow and red wire to sending unit- no voltage/ pulled insturment Panel and pulled wire connector that deals with fuel gauge/ check yellow and red wire going to insturment panel no power/ where does power come from to feed yellow and red wire? is it the instrument panel it self? Sending unit seems OK resistance checked with omh meter.

Answers :

You do not measure voltage on the red/yellow wire

instead you need to read RESISTANCE

the gauge uses power and then the resistance change of the red/yellow wire

measure resistance of the yellow/red wire at the cluster to ground

I cannot remember of the top of my head, but either high resistance will equal full/empty and then the opposite when empty
