How to Change Rear Axle Seal?

\015 My uncle has a 1989 Wrangler that we use in the woods for hunting. The left rear axle seal is leaking. - What's the best way to replace it?- Any tricks I should know?- Do I need to get into the differential?- Will I need to special-order the seal, or would a local parts store have it?Thanks!\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 16-10-2017

Answers :

When you take the rear drum off, look where the axle goes in and if\015\012there are 4 bolts around it, you don't have to go into the diff. If\015\012there are no bolts holding the axle in, then get a repair manual to\015\012guide you through the steps. The seal on an axle that is bolted in\015\012place will have a collar that needs to be pressed off and a new one\015\012back on. These seals can be bought at a local partsd house.
