Starter wont engage no power - 1988 Toyota Camry

Answers :

The most likely cause is a failing battery. An old battery may not be able to hold enough charge to drive the starter or hold in the starter solenoid.

A test is to turn on the headlights, and hit the starter. If the lights dim right down, the battery has expired.

Otherwise the starter solenoid may have failed, or its contacts worn down. Usually the first sign of that is intermittent failure to start.

Another thing to check is firmness of the battery post terminals, and the other end of the negative ground strap, on the engine.
