Having problems with your 1988 Chevrolet S-10 ?

88 s10. short in the wiring, frying coil. how do I find short?

\015 I acquired an 88 chevy s10. It has a short in the wiring somewhere. When I hooked up the coil wires it began to smoke. the person who gave it to me had the same problem with the previous coil. How can I determine where my short is? Is it possible that something in the distributor has shorted out?\015 Posted / edited by AnonymousUser on : 11-12-2017

Answers :

It is posible that it is in the dist. go to your local auto parts and get a12v test light sould be your first step.then unhook dist. an see if it still smokes. the test light sould help with the track down. there was one chase i know of that it kept bruning a wire that it ended up the alternator was soreded out. most auto parts can check this if you take them the alternator. HOPE IT HELPS!!!!
