Answers :

A blown fuse to what exactly and it should even though any fuses should be replaced as it goes to operate something signals etc . a bad bulb such as a head light needs replacing but has no effect on the charging system
Yes it will charge the battery unless the fuse that is blown is the one for the charging system. A blown bulb will not stop it from charging.

96 cougar v8. new alternator, new battery. we worked on it all day at autozone. got a new battery and alternator. when we started it up and tested it it would go to 12.6v then fail. we tested the alternator inside and it passed. we tried another new alternator and it had the same problem. tried a wire from the alternator to where the fuse box is to see if that one was bad and it still came up the same. i dont see any bad fuses. so im stuck. any ideas why the alternator is not charging the batter

I had the same problem on my 96'. It ended up being the mega-fuse, which is located on the left side of the fuse box under a plastic cover that slides up. It has two wires running to it(one of which is the main wire from the alt to the battery), and ... 1996 Mercury Cougar XR7

1999 Ford Windstar 3.8 engine. Not charging. Alternator is good. Battery is good. No dash indicator lights showing any type of problem. Put a tester on the battery while running. Not charging. Tried my tester on another vehicle and it is OK. I assume that a fuse or relays in the circuit is bad, but can not find any in the owners manual specific to the alternator to battery circuit. There are fuses and relays all over the place. Which fuses and relays should I check?

Replaced alternator, voltage regulator, and battery is near new, but the battery won't charge. Is there a wire somewhere that is known to go bad frequently I could check. I know on GM products there is small wire alongside one of the battery cables that if broke will stop the engine and it won't restart either. Does the 1995 tempo have such a wire? Also does it have a fuse for the alternator? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My son's 2000 Honda Civic SI has a problem with the alternator SP sensor fuse blowing. He is away at college so the car sometimes sits for a couple of weeks between drives. When the fuse blows the charging system shuts down and then it is just a matter of time until the battery dies. Is this fuse blowing due to the alternator going bad?

I replaced my battery this week on my 99 Yukon. Truck started fine for several days. Now it won't turn over, at all. All the equipment inside works, so the battery is not dead - it just wont ever try to turn. Before the old battery went bad it took a charge and charged back up, which makes me think its not the alternator. Could it be a fuse or some simple like that? Jared
